Duke Students, Start Snitchin! More on Duke “Race Rape” Fracas
This New York Times timeline of the Duke lacrosse team rape incident is very interesting. The incident happened over two weeks ago, so why is it taking so long to process the DNA tests? I don’t know how long that process usually takes, so maybe that is not so unusual.
The woman, a student at North Carolina Central University, was “definitely” assaulted, according to Durham County district attorney Mike Nifong who spoke on O’Reilly today about the case. They’re just waiting for those tests to determine who the perpetrators are.
MSNBC reports there was one African-American male at the house who was not asked for a DNA test.
All but one – an African American – of the 47 members of the team were asked to submit to DNA tests. The alleged victim…said that the assailants were all White.
Justice4TwoSisters, whom I believe lives in Durham, says that both of the woman involved were assaulted, but I haven’t been able to find any news reports of what happened to the other woman.
All you White folks at Duke need to start snitchin. I’m pretty sure the same predators who did this have exhibited similar patterns of behavior in the past. I lived in Durham for a while and attended UNC, in Chapel Hill. I saw some of the wildest shit ever on college campuses, and I don’t know why we front like it’s only the Black kids who have the problems when White kids show their asses on TV getting drunk and partying too hard all the time.
Anyway, you White sorority girls better start coming clean cause I know a lot of you have probably been in some ugly situations with these guys but you don’t want to snitch because you still trying to front like you a virgin. Cut it out.
And that Black dude that was there? Oh man…please, please, please let me know why in the hell you ain’t said shit? Let a sister got done like that and don’t say shit! That’s a good look, my brotha! What’s wrong with us?
I could be wrong. The brother could have spoken up and he could be like…in the cut waiting to be a witness or something but damn it seems like there is a deafening silence from Black men in general about this, with the exception of Durham poet/activist Dasan Ahanu and a couple others. At least in the blogosphere it seems this way, and at the protests I’ve seen mostly Whites, Asians and Black females. Unless the media is just not showing the Black men at the protests or something.
And I know a lot of folks have been out in force about this, but we need more. I want to see more people keep making noise about this until the case is resolved. There needs to be vigils at campuses across the country to show these young women some support. It saddens me to know however that because the women are Black, it’s not gonna happen. Here’s some interesting info about Black women and rape, and the sad things is a I bet not a lot of this has changed. In fact I know it. Some people here are even more concerned about the “reputation” of Duke going down, which will depreciate the value of their degrees. Also, some of the folks on that page are saying basically, “Why believe her, she’s a hooker!” Hello! Exotic dancers and hookers, not the same!
And besides even though she once worked for an escort service, they get raped too! They get assaulted, get their vaginas slashed, and more! Let’s not be so hateful of the women in the sex industry.
I hope that one of the things that comes out of this is more White Americans open up a real dialogue about how fucked up their kids can be instead of always hearing about how fucked up Black folks are from Whites all the damn time. We hear it from Black people like Bill Cosby too, but where are all these “elders” now, when these two young women need them the most? Because you know if the same thing had happened at Morehouse with a White chick Cosby would’ve been one of the first out the gate with the ‘ol “See how rap music makes Black men rape women!”
