Just Got Back From Chicago – The National Hip Hop Political Convention

photo of Chicago at night by Tanasha
I was in Chicago last week for the National Hip Hop Political Convention…and loved Chicago, although my internet access was spotty. I just got home yesterday. It’s an extraordinary place, and this was my first time in Chi-town. I spent 22 hours on a bus to get there…and I came by myself. I met a lot of people I really admire, like Sam Greenlee, author of the Spook Who Sat By the Door, Davey D, Malia Lazu, Hadji Williams, author of Knock the Hustle and too many more to name right now.
I’ll be blogging about the convention very soon, hopefully tomorrow, and uploading some photos and I may even have some video to post from some of the events… Right now I’m working on a piece about the event for a Hip-Hop website.
Here’s an article by Jeff Chang about the convention with some interesting discussion about the topic of Hip Hop and activism from DaveyD.com.
This whole trip, the convention, everything, it’s been bananas. I can’t say enough about how great the city treated me. *Lovely*. See more photos of Chicago during the day, and at night.
