Leiomy Mizrahi, aka Leyomi Mizrahi aka Leiomy Maldonado from MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew takes it to the floor and shows off some of her signature moves in Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” video.
Hair “whipping” and other hair movements have been an integral part of the “new” vogue style for a minute now, especially for dancers in a style of vogue known as “femme vogue”. “Femme vogue” in itself has been around for a while but the “new” style femme voguers like Leiomy have taken it to a differnet level.
Leiomy has been causing a sensation on the underground vogue scene for years and is a pioneer in transgender vogue. I was very pleasantly surprised to see her in Willow’s video. She first comes in very briefly around 1:26 dressed in a white suit as a teacher, then again in red hot pants later in the video, then continues to dance in both outfits. Fierce!
Check her out below.
I can’t believe that video has over 38,000 dislikes on Youtube. I mean, the girl is 10! Haters! Continue reading...
In last week’s HM Mixtape Monday post I told you guys I would be posting something new this week, but over the course of the week I discovered that many people, much to my surprise, were not familiar with the full catalog of a woman many deem one of the best emcees of all time–Lauryn Hill
So I decided this week to post DJ J. Period’s The Best of Lauryn Hill, which is one of the best Lauryn Hill mixtapes I’ve ever heard because of the completeness of it in terms of covering L. Boogie’s material from her first CD with the Fugees, to songs from her multi-platinum Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album to the Fugees last single together, “Take It Easy”, interview clips with Ms. Hill plus a lot more. Many of the songs are remixed by J. Period so they sound completely new.
This CD is actually a double CD set, and it rocks from front to back so if you are a Lauryn Hill fan I know this set will be in your heavy rotation for weeks to come. Continue reading...
Recently, a billboard in Soho, NY announced to passersby that “The Most Dangerous Place For An African-American Is In The Womb“.
Who signed their child up to be the face of this f*ckery?
Though this B.S. billboard has since been taken down due to a riotous uproar from mostly women–of course!–it got me thinking about other places that might theoretically pose hazards for the unborn. Or more specifically, the unconceived.
As it turns out, there is another place that can be quite lethal for half of the genetic material it takes to make a baby—and that place is none other than a white man’s ball-sack.

Of all American men, white men–especially those of Scandanavian descent– are the most likely of any ethnic group to get testicular cancer. And if you’re a young white guy, you are especially at risk as testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer among men ages 15 to 34. Continue reading...

Mixtape Monday is a new feature here on Heavy Mentalist. Every Monday I’ll be sharing a new mixtape with my readers, and today the one I decided to share is Kanye West’s Eyes Closed.
This mixtape is actually not “new” in internet terms, where new music dropped one week is “old” the next since this mixtape dropped in early January, but I wanted to start off with it because, for lack of a better way to say it, the chit rocks (with one exception–I probably would’ve left “That’s My Bitch” off this mixtape).
A lot of people might take issue with Kanye’s antics, and I admit I was one of those people aghast at his behavior at the 2009 VMAs. However, that has not clouded my appreciation of his music, and to put it bluntly: Kayne is an artist and artists tend to be just a little crazy, but that’s what makes them who they are.
Next week I’ll have something a little “newer” for you, but for now I’m pleased to present Kanye West’s “Eyes Closed”. Continue reading...
