The line under the title “The Last Nerve” says “Things that just get under your skin. Need to vent? Got a complaint? The Last Nerve is now open.” Wow! I wish I had thought of that…LOL!!

Just saw a clip on the news of Condi’s reaction to Hamas’ win. She basically said that her staff was “caught off guard” by the win and that she will “order an analysis” of why the Palestinian common folk are so…like, angry. Why in the world they would vote for Hamas, basically.
Why doesn’t she get on the ground once and a while and ask some people herself what *they* think. That’s one thing I can’t stand about “da gub’ment”. They’re always analysing stuff with other people’s data, breaking shit down with formulas, numbers, etc. instead of actually getting out and pounding pavement to shake hands and shoot the shit with the real folks. At least for a good photo op!

Speaking of white folks adopting foreign kids, I just came upon this rumor tidbit. Of course it may not be true, but these folks think that both of Angelina Jolie’s children were stolen from their folks in Ethiopia and Cambodia. If this is the case I’d like to see some light shed on this.
Not that I have a distaste for Angelina Jolie, but I do think kids being snatched away from family members so a rich actress can pop them in her pocket like a box of Tic Tacs and be on her merry way is just wrong.
Well I do dislike one thing about Angelina, but not in a personal way. I just just don’t like the way “big lips” all of a sudden became so en vogue after she became a star when sistas been rockin em for centuries! Much like the over-lauded J Lo booty. Her ass is good, but kinda wide and flabby in a way…and certainly not any more spectacular than the KA-POW! booty of the Dreamgirl of many men, the divine Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph, who I think is one of the most beautiful women in show business. I don’t think I know or have ever heard of Black people, rich or poor adopting White children, or any other kind of children for that matter, unless the child was left with them for some reason as happens in poorer neighborhoods at times. You know, a mom is so cracked, methed, iced, whatever out she just goes missing and boom! That kid you were just babysitting now calls you “mom” and because you know a kid is almost better off dead than ending up in the foster care system you decide to take on the responsibility yourself. Of course this happens with poor Whites too and in poor neighborhoods in general. Continue reading...

If you’re a “revolutionary” poet and haven’t heard of the Red Bull Word Clash you need your pass snatched. It’s *only* the most prestigious, hardcore “street” poetry throw-down in the world. Right here in the US of A.
The fourth annual Red Bull Word Clash will be held Feb. 11, 2006 in Greensboro at the Carolina Theatre, 310 S. Greene Street.
Since only 20 of the nation’s rawest politically charged poets are selected from a large pool of hopefuls, only three spaces will be available the day of the event. Wow. Last year folks started lining up outside the venue like two hours before the doors opened, hoping to get one of the remaining slots. This year the doors open at 5 pm for poet registration/welcome, and the Word Clash begins at 8 pm.
Every year of this event the producers have had to move it to a larger venue and folks are still turned away because the venue gets full quick and it turns into a SRO (standing room only) situation. The public support and enthusiasm for this event is bananas, especially considering that we are in the South. This year the producers moved it to the Carolina Theatre, and hopefully the capacity of that place will be enough! Continue reading...
